Kikyoshiki Service
The Affirmation/Confirmation ceremony is called kikyoshiki (return-reverence-ceremony) and is performed by the Gomonshu (Abbot) or, in special cases, his selected representative. It is a simple ceremony in which the basic ritual is the symbolic shaving of the head. This symbolic shaving of the head refers to the act of Siddhartha entering his spiritual quest for enlightenment. A homyo (Buddhist Dharma Name) is given to the person who has confirmed his or her entry into the Path of Nembutsu. This ceremony is held periodically, most often on a district level.
Tisarana (kieshiki) service is conducted by the Bishop of BCA.
